Working Conference 2009 program

The 2009 Working conference of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe will be held 4th -7th March 2009, in the the surroundings of Lisbon, Portugal. The main theme is 'Innovations in Pharmaceutical Care research'. The workshop -topics will be:

• Innovation in Quantitative methods (an advanced workshop with e.g. time series and and survival analysis)

• Innovation in Qualitative methods (e.g. participant and non-participant observation as a tool in research)

• Studying service and pharmaceutical care delivery (a novice Workshop)

• Research ethics in Pharmaceutical Care Research (developing a PCNE framework)

• Competency versus performance in pharmaceutical care education (with a focus on educational matters)

PCNE General Assembly 2008

The next general assembly of PCNE will be held on Friday, 5th of September 2008 in the Pharmacy Museaum in Basle, Switzerland.  The meeting starts at 11.00h. PCNE members can access the agenda and draft-minutes of the previous general assembly (Istanbul, 27th October 2007) at the members-only section of this PCNE site.

New Board

In 2007 new board members were elected for the PCNE association, and older board members departed. The current board of PCNE consists of

The PCNE fora

In July 2007, new 'Discussion Fora' have been installed, to enable especially the PCNE members (but also other interested parties) to discuss different issues in the field of pharmaceutical care. The 'bulletin board' is protected, in the sense that participants must register before they can contribute to the discussions. Also, part of the board is only available for the members of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe. To access the Fora, click on the link on the left, or click HERE.

Poster award
The poster award for the best poster during the 2007 Working Conference of the PCNE (sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Care care foundation of the German Pharmacist Federation, ABDA) went to two research teams. The lucky winners were:

• Charlotte Rossing, Hanne Herborg, L. Sorensen, Pharmakon, Hillerød, Denmark for their poster 'Adherence problems among type 2-diabetics'
• Catriona Bradley, Martin Henman. School of pharmacy, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland with 'Studies of health promotion and weight control in Community Pharmacy in the Republic of Ireland'

The PCNE Working Conferences are the educational events of the Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe. Such conferences typically last 3-4 days and has a number of workshops. The workshops last at least 12 hours so that proper results can be reached. Reports and proceedings of the Working Conferences are available for all interested parties.

The 5^th PCNE Working Conference was held from 21-24 February 2007 at the Nordic School of Public Health in Göteborg, Sweden. The topic was 'Overcoming the Barriers in Pharmaceutical Care Research' and according to the evaluations, it was a big success. In these evaluations, the participants indicated that they were very satisfied with the conference, and that the workshops fulfilled their expectations.

The next (6th) Working Conference will be held in Portugal, near Lisbon, from 4-7 March 2009. More information about this conference can be found at the top of this page.

Celebrating 10 years of PCNE PCNE has been founded during the 1994 congress of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). It was therefore appropriate that the dinner to celebrate the 10 years of PCNE would also be held during the FIP congress, in 2004 in New Orleans.
