Next PCNE meeting
The next PCNE meetings will be held on Malta, 14-15 March 2014. This symposium will include meetings on:
- - Drug Related Problems and the classification
- - Medication review
- - Pharmaceutical Care Standards & Guidelines
and we will have a General Assembly. More details will follow.
PCNE General Assembly February 2013
During the General Assembly of 9th February 2013, the following new members were welcomed:
- Manfred Krüger from Germany as an individual member.
- Arijana Meštrović from Croatia as an individual member
- Giancarlo Nadin from Italy as an individual member
- The department of Social pharmacy of the Jagiellonian University of Krakow, represented by Anita Skowron (Institutional member)
- The Dutch Institute for the Rational Use of Medicine (IVM), represented by Menno van Woerkom (Institutional member)
- The Department of Pharmacy of the Westphalian University in Münster, Germany, represented by Isabel Waltering (Institutional member)
In preparation for the application for membership, Ora Fonia-Zehlinger from Israel presented the work of the clinical pharmacy department of Clalit, the biggest Israeli sickfund. A decision about this membership will be taken during the upcoming General Assembly, which will most probably be held in March 2014 on Malta.

PCNE Working Conference 2013
PCNE Working Symposium 'Collaborative Pharmaceutical Care in Research and
Practice' was held in Berlin, Germany, at the Akademie Berlin-Schmöckwitz, from 6-8 February 2013. There were aproximately 96 participants, working in 5 different Working Groups. Results can be found on this site, within 2-3 weeks after the end of this conference.

The Lesmüller Oral Communication Award was won by Stephen Carter from the University of Sydney in Australia, for his presentation about the Informal Caregivers' willingness to useHome Medication Review: Developing and Testing the Knowledge Hassles Information Seeking Model (KHISM). (Presentation here)
The FI Poster Award had to be shared by two winners: Sinthia Bosnic-Antisevic et al. from the University of Sydney for their poster about Comparing three different forms of education on health professional inhaler technique and maintenance of correct technique, and Silvia M. Grote et al. for their poster about Preventive care services in community pharmacies for improvement of cardiovascular risk factors - Evaluation by participants.

Working group Pharmaceutical Care Standards & Guidelines
On the 9th of February 2013, a new PCNE Working Group on Pharmaceutical Care Guidlines was founded. The first meeting will tentatively be held on Malta in 2014, if not before. The Working Group will discuss the quality and implementation of Pharmaceutical Care standards and guidelines.

PCNE meetings in Leuven in May 2012, Belgium

New members; the 2012 General Assembly
During the recent general assembly of the PCNE association in Leuven (30th June 2012) two new members were accepted. Mrs. Paula Cahill, nurse practitioner from Illinois, USA as an individual observer member, and the Division of Social Pharmacy of the University of Helsinki, Finland, as an institutional member of PCNE. The representative of the latter organisation will be Dr. Saija Leikola. Their introduction presentations can be found on the members-only part of this web site.
